So you’ve read my post on what exactly is cornerstone content and why you should look at creating cornerstone content but how do you actually choose which piece of content or blog article should you mark as cornerstone?
How to choose my cornerstone content?
Because cornerstone content is in effect the backbone of your website, you should ensure that it’s content that you can write about with confidence and with authority. It is likely to be based around your niche and you can have multiple so don’t feel restricted to one topic.
Think of the four or five pages or section of your site that you would like someone to read when they first visit your website. These articles should be the cornerstones of your site. For example across at The Money Saving Mum they have cornerstone content based on Disney and saving money.
It also makes sense for it to be your popular articles so head over to Google Analytics to get your stats. It should be content that is already being recognised or has potential to be recognised by both Google and your readers. Posts that are or will provide your auidence with high value quality information.
You can also think about what do you want to be known for or what are you known for in your ‘niche’ now? What’s the keyword/s you are trying to rank for? What do you regularly write about and what do you feel really strongly and passionate about?
